Type: Life or Executive Coach

What type of coach do you need? Life coaches cost less and deal with, well, life. These are personally oriented sessions, supporting areas like resilience, personal growth and goal achievement. They cost up to a few hundred pounds /dollars an hour. Executive coaches are more specialised, and need a broader skillset to understand corporate structures, HR areas like L&D, roles & responsibilities, competency matrices, leadership skills, work dynamics, typical corporate issues especially politics, as well as how to balance life and work. Executive coaches have a greater depth and range of expertise. In addition coaching can lead to huge financial and performance gains so session fees are typically much higher (upwards of 3 or 4 times) than for life coaching.

Additionally if you require the full range of skills from your coach; corporate expertise, business acumen, psychological development, mentoring all wrapped up in a friendly but strong advocate for you with 15-20 years corporate experience, then be prepared to pay at the top end of executive coaching fees.
