Leading in the eye of the storm… doesn’t stop for the holidays.
Fewer emails.
Fewer meetings.
A bit more space.
But for most leaders I work with… the noise and pressure don’t switch off. In fact, trying to whilst we know the issues are still going to be there on Tuesday..
Can make fully enjoying the long weekend, challenging.
It’s not about whether the business is open or not.
It’s the decisions sitting in the background.
Have you clarified – parked- all you can for the moment?
Are you clear what you have and haven’t control of?
Do you have a plan?
Feeling the pressure is often the lack of these things.
Responsibilities don’t pause just because the calendar says “Easter”.
This is the heavy part most people don’t talk about.
Rest isn’t just time away.
It’s about being able to switch off and be present in the time you are not at work which will enable you to think clearly when you return.
Most leaders need less time off than
They need space for clearer thinking.
Because when Tuesday comes, the storm is still there. The difference is how you walk back into it.
Enjoy your break – but plan so you can really enjoy it…
If your calendar allows it, give yourself a well-earned rest over the next few days. It pays dividends.
